Excessive or uncontrollable sweating (hyperhidrosis) can be very distressing and embarrassing, but it's quite common.
The sweating may affect the whole of your body, or it may only affect certain areas. Commonly affected areas include the:
- armpits
- palms of your hands
- soles of your feet
- face and chest
- groin
The sweating doesn’t usually pose a serious threat to your health, but it can be embarrassing and distressing. We treat excessive underarm sweating by injecting small carefully controlled doses of Botox to block the action of the nerves which activate the sweat glands under the arms.
This treatment usually works well and the effect lasts approximately 2-6 months, although some patients may continue to benefit for 12 months. The treatment can be repeated.

There may be a little sensitivity experienced post treatment, but this procedure is generally quite comfortable.
Although many people find this treatment relatively easy to tolerate, some patients express experiencing some slight swelling or bruising in the under arm (a tender area), which usually subsides within a few days.
This treatment produces no down time, leaving you able to carry on with your day.
